This Pinot Noir Praesulis from winery Markus Prackwieser Gumphof comes from the southern Eisack Valley, at the foot of the Schlern massif. The vines grow at elevations of 500 to 550 meters above sea level on calcareous moraines over solid quartz porphyry – steep vineyard sites that give this Blauburgunder tension, freshness and a fine mineral character.
After one week of cold maceration, fermentation is followed by two weeks of skin contact. The wine then matures for 12 months in barrique barrels with malolactic fermentation. On the nose, it reveals raspberry, black cherry, forest berries, a touch of cocoa, cedar and fine spicy depth. On the palate, it is precise, refined and elegant, with delicate acidity balance, polished tannins and the Alpine clarity typical of Gump Hof.

Winery Gump Hof
Winery Gump Hof in Völs am Schlern is a historic family winery first documented in 1546 and owned by the Prackwieser family for over 200 years. Since 2000, Markus Prackwieser has managed the estate with experience, patience and a spirit of experimentation. On the steep slopes of the southern Eisack Valley, wines are created that reflect the landscape at the foot of the Schlern massif and the distinctive signature of the winemaker.
The vineyards lie at elevations between 400 and 800 meters and benefit from Mediterranean influences during the day as well as cool downdrafts from the Dolomites at night. Calcareous moraine soils over Bolzano quartz porphyry, careful handwork and traditional cultivation methods form the basis for multi-layered wines with freshness, spice and elegance. Weissburgunder, Sauvignon Blanc, Gewürztraminer, Pinot Noir and Vernatsch in particular reveal their distinctive character here.
