This Sauvignon Blanc Ried Sonneck Alte Reben from Domaine 1196 originates from one of the most historic vineyards in Southern Styria. The monopole site, dating back to 1942, is defined by old vines deeply rooted in ancient sandstone, giving the wine its unmistakable character.
Surrounded by forest and influenced by unique air circulation, this vineyard produces a wine of extraordinary depth and precision. The decades-old vines create a concentrated, mineral-driven style that reveals itself on the palate through firm structure, lively acidity and great tension. Its origin shapes it with elegance, power and impressive aging potential. This strictly limited edition comprises only 900 bottles.

Domaine 1196 Winery
The winery Domaine 1196 in Gamlitz combines centuries-old winemaking tradition with modern cellar technology. The name refers to the year 1196, the first documented mention of viticulture in the region, and reflects its deep roots in the Styrian terroir. This is where distinctive wines with a clear signature and strong character are created.
At the historic site of a former vineyard, a state-of-the-art cellar was built, uniting production, storage, and logistics under one roof. With a focus on precision and innovation, the wines are also given the freedom to develop naturally. The project was initiated by Siegfried Wolf and realized together with renowned figures such as Reinhard Muster and Albert Gesellmann. The result is wines defined by elegance and a clear Styrian identity.
