This Natus Souvignier Gris from Ritterhof Winery demonstrates just how exciting and characterful a PIWI grape variety can be. The vines grow on the southern slopes below the wine village of Caldaro along the South Tyrolean Wine Road, on well-drained, mineral-rich glacial moraine soils at around 320 meters above sea level.
On the nose, it reveals an intense and complex bouquet of fresh peach and lemon zest. On the palate, it impresses with ripe, balanced freshness and flavors of apple, yellow tropical fruit and pink grapefruit. Its juicy, creamy texture, full-bodied mouthfeel and long, refined finish make it an especially elegant and modern white wine.
