This Weissburgunder Praesulis from winery Markus Prackwieser Gumphof comes from the southern Eisack Valley, at the foot of the Schlern massif. The vines grow at elevations of 450 to 550 meters above sea level on calcareous moraines over solid quartz porphyry – steep vineyard sites that give the wine its clear structure and mineral tension.
After gentle pressing, the wine is fermented in stainless steel tanks and one third in oak. It then matures for 11 months on the fine lees, again in stainless steel and one third in tonneaux. The result is a highly elegant, complex Weissburgunder with delicate creaminess, lively freshness and multi-layered expression that reveals its full depth especially after a little time in the glass.

Winery Gump Hof
Winery Gump Hof in Völs am Schlern is a historic family winery first documented in 1546 and owned by the Prackwieser family for over 200 years. Since 2000, Markus Prackwieser has managed the estate with experience, patience and a spirit of experimentation. On the steep slopes of the southern Eisack Valley, wines are created that reflect the landscape at the foot of the Schlern massif and the distinctive signature of the winemaker.
The vineyards lie at elevations between 400 and 800 meters and benefit from Mediterranean influences during the day as well as cool downdrafts from the Dolomites at night. Calcareous moraine soils over Bolzano quartz porphyry, careful handwork and traditional cultivation methods form the basis for multi-layered wines with freshness, spice and elegance. Weissburgunder, Sauvignon Blanc, Gewürztraminer, Pinot Noir and Vernatsch in particular reveal their distinctive character here.
