Since 2003, a few selected barrique barrels had been stored in the deep Caldiff cellar of the Roner family, carefully kept for a very special occasion. To mark the 80th birthday of Mr. Andreas Roner, president of the distillery of the same name and a passionate apple brandy enthusiast, the Caldiff 80 Special Edition was created: an exceptional Gravensteiner apple brandy refined by selected oak wood for 17 years. As a crowning finish, the brandy spent its final two winters in Alpin Rum R74 barrels, harmoniously rounding off its unique, multifaceted aroma.
On the nose, this special apple brandy is mild, promising and harmonious. Ripe apple aromas combine with subtle woody notes, while connoisseurs will discover a gentle Caribbean breeze – a subtle hint of its maturation in rum barrels.
On the palate, the full complexity of the Gravensteiner apple brandy unfolds: fruity notes of ripe apples meet dried plums and Corinthian raisins. Again and again, the fresh fruit flesh of the apples comes through, perfectly balanced with the elegant oak-barrel maturation.
The finish is long-lasting, rounded and impressive, as if every sip tells the story of its 17 years of maturation. Bottled in an elegant decanter and delivered in a premium gift box, the Caldiff 80 Special Edition is an exclusive highlight for connoisseurs, collectors and lovers of high-quality fruit brandies.
