It is infused in fruit schnapps and carefully distilled after maceration, giving it its refreshing bouquet. The masterwort, also known as mountain or emperor's root, is mainly found along paths and field edges. Its spicy-bitter taste precedes its reputation as the master of herbal meadows. This herbaceous plant is rich in bitter substances, tannins, resin, and coumarin, giving the masterwort spirit its characteristic bitter, earthy-spicy flavor. Originally revered as a panacea in the Middle Ages, masterwort is now primarily appreciated in the distillery for its unique taste.
